McLaren MP4/8 Ford, Ayrton Senna's car from '93

So, now it's finished. Sort of.
After processing the picutres I noticed that I forgot to do something on it, take a guess what it is! Well, I correct that as soon as it's home again. It's on display in the local shop for the moment.

It's a Tamiya kit and I've built it OOB and it's pretty good but not one of my best builds. Luckily for me the camera smooths over the worst f***-ups making it look rather good in the pictures.

Started on it some 10 years ago and had huge amounts of trouble with the red decals, ordered some Tamiya paint instead only to mess up with the white. Went back in the box only to surface again a month ago and slammed together with no detailing what so ever. Bad painting under the cowl so that area is left to your imagination

I didn't put the bar very high building it, rather trying to finish another one before this year ends, think I'm up in 3 or 4 now and that is some kind of a new record being me

On to the pictures.....

Nice work, one of my all time favourite cars to be honest. Great work for a slammer.

Despite all the setbacks, it's still good that you finished it finally. I think it looks alot better here on the forum then sitting in the box somewhere. Looks great I think.

Thank's!

Take a look at the "mirrors" and you'll see what's missing.

The paint work is done with a coat of flat white from a car parts dealer here in Sweden and on that I've used Tamiya TS-36 Fluorescent red, a quite good match. Maybe a tad to orange but it's good enough for me. The white portions was then brush painted with Tamiya's acrylic clear and the whole lot was given a quick do over with a micro mesh cloth and Tamiya polishing pastes.
....and that just about sums it up.

A great looking car and a wonderful build. I've just bought one of these on Ebay and I hope it looks as good as that when its done.
