Re: got no gears in my 86 fiero help
If the car isn't moving, I don't think the clutch is still engaged. It sounds like the clutch is disengaged. There are some shift cables that may have snapped.
www.rodneydickman.com has some threads about Fiero transmissions and sells fix parts. |

Re: got no gears in my 86 fiero help
even if i go to the back of the car and move the shifter were the cables are with the car running it won't move. but it fells like the gears are there.when the car is started i can put the car in any gear whith the cluch in or out and it will not move.and it will roll in any gear with the car on or off. it might not make much sence how i wrote this but do not know how else to write it.

Re: got no gears in my 86 fiero help
I would probably guess the input shaft to your trans is sheared off. Usually this happens internally within the trans itself. In other words, if your cables are o.k. and working, and you can see the clutch arm moving in and out (need help for this one) then I would suspect this is the culprit. If it is; start looking for a replacement trans or rebuilding yours. A good check, engine not running, on a level surface, put the car in any gear and push it by hand; if it rolls without giving you any type of major resistance, this is probably it.
