1995 Ford Fiesta Quartz Starting Problem

Just bought my first car it's been driving fine for the past 3 weeks with very few problems apart from me being a bit rubbish at driving.

Yesterday when I tried to start her I left the car in gear and it stalled. Now when I turn the ignition nothing happens the electrics kick in wipers, Radio, lights, ect but the car dose not turn at all.

It was dark last night so I could really see anything under the bonnet and being new at this car thing I hadn’t joined the AA yet who wanted £100 for me to join on the spot (roughly 1/5 of what I paid for my car) I decided against it and left the car in the car park over night.

I have a friend who is a bit more mechanically minded than me coming to have a look at this afternoon and tow me to a garage if need be.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be is there a chance that the starter motor is just stuck or that I have knocked out a cable somewhere?
