Help with 97 altima
I just tried to have my altima inspected for emissions and the tech told me that the computer and my car were not communicating. Does anyone know what might be happening?

We will need a lot more info. Did it fail inspection. What computer is giving the problem. What is the code no? when you post give all of the info you can. like this. Tips on getting a good answer to your questions. People trying to answer your question do not have a crystal ball. So give them all of the info you have like year make and model and engine and transmission and mileage. Also cars engine and transmission service history or any recent repairs or problems. Also a description of your problem and what it is doing or not doing. If you have codes give up the code no. And remember a code does not say replace the part but only points to the problem that you have to check out. So to better help you give up all of the info you have on it. MT

Re: Help with 97 altima
The check engine light does not come on at all. We ended up taking the car to a different garage to get the inspection done. Everything worked there so we know that there is a problem with the techs equipment not the car. Thank you for your help though.

Re: Help with 97 altima
I think I have this same problem too. My cruise control light comes on and off when I put my car on neutral or any other odd time. My headlights come on and off when they should be off. Now my hood latch cannot pull which I am not sure is related to the ecu issues. Now today when I turn my headlights on the high beams come one only not my regular headlights.
Someone please help!! Thanks in advance.

This post post was started by someone else for a different problem. It would be better to start a new post on your problem. And give all of the info you can on it. How long it has been doing it and any recent repairs or work on it? And remember battery cables and cables and grounds. Like Tips on getting a good answer to your questions. People trying to answer your question do not have a crystal ball. So give them all of the info you have like year make and model and engine and transmission and mileage. Also cars engine and transmission service history or any recent repairs or problems. Also a description of your problem and what it is doing or not doing. If you have codes give up the code no. Re: Help with 97 altima
Hi. My 97 Altima has been in the dealer repair shop for 2 weeks and they say they don't know what the problem is. They charged me $700 for some part that they said might solve the problem (they thought it may be the problem or at least 70%). Well, the problem did not stop. The car intermittently cuts off...while I'm driving. I cross a bridge to get to work everyday and my fear was that it would just cut off on the bridge...but last time it cut off in the middle of a large, traffice-ridden street. It cut off twice before and then I would wait a few minutes and cut it back on. This time I tried repeatedly and it wouldn't come back on. I only have about 79,000 miles on it, have kept it up to date with everything. It just passed inspection in July. How could the Nissan dealer not be able to figure out the problem. Meanwhile, I am driving one of their rental cars free. I'm getting angry that no one can find out the problem. And I don't want to be driving and it just cuts off in the middle of traffic...it can be very dangerous.
Any advice? Thank you! |

But this post is over a year old and has all ready be hijacked. Always check date on a post before replying. Let the old dogs stay dead. And on your problem start a new thread. The button is upper right hand corner of this section. Good work takes time. If they are furnishing you wheels. Let them have at it. On a side note there is a recall on crank and crank sensors on them in fact over a 1/2 mil of them. You might want to get them to check yours. Good luck MT
