Plans for next spring
I am getting into the mode of thinking about what to buy for the car in order to install next spring and I need some help. Looking at my current mods, does anyone have a ballpark estimate on HP and 1/4 mile times? I had it at the track bone stock and 98 degree day and it ran 15.9.
I think my next steps are going to have to include fuel pump, injectors, some kind of tuning, and a wastegate upgrade (maybe external?) and porting stuff? If anyone can give me their opinion about what I should look into doing next and what increases in HP and 1/4 mile times I could expect I would greatly appreciate it.

Sounds good, might want to upgrade the bov if you haven't already.

Re: Plans for next spring
I think if you got injectors, fuel pump and link you would see a vast improvement in your setup. I would do those before you do anything else. That way you can atleast tune the car.

Re: Plans for next spring
I have a greddy type rs bov.
Do I need to port the exhaust manifold and do things to take care of boost creep and a wastegate to control the boost first tho? And what size and brand of fuel pump and injectors do you think would be best, im looking towards 300 or so hp and maybe into 13's as my goals...

Re: Plans for next spring
Walbro 255 (regular or high pressure, doesn't really mattery) and some 780's will do you well.

Re: Plans for next spring
If you get a 255 you will need a better fuel pressure regulator as well, whereas if you got a 190 you wouldnt. 190's will be plenty for that turbo anyway. Also, almost positive you can make it on 650cc injectors.

Re: Plans for next spring
I guess the real question is, will you be wanting more after you're done with this? Like upgrading the turbo to an even bigger one in the next few years?

Re: Plans for next spring
Yea... its hard to say at this point if I would want to upgrade to a bigger turbo. Maxing out the E3 16g can get to around what?, Like 400 hp and what quarter mile time.
Is the 255 worth getting over the 190 since you have to get a better fuel pressure regulator?

Re: Plans for next spring
So with a walbro 255, Ill need a fuel pressure regulator what is a good one to get and how hard is the install?
If i get 650 Injectors I will need to get some kind of tuning device im sure which one is good for that setup? Do I need porting and an external wastegate to adjust the boost levels before the fuel mods? or does it not matter

Re: Plans for next spring
Yes, a FPR is needed with a 255. Its not at higher rpms that its lacking in, its the lower ones... the stock FPR is geometrically not big enough to get rid of the excess fuel fast enough. Aeromotive makes a good one, IIRC they are around $300 with the install kit. They arent overly difficult to put in, but they do need to be mounted to the firewall. Yes, you will need a tuning device. On the 650's you can get a SAFC variant, but then you should also have a pocketlogger to do some data collection. By the time you've coughed up dough for those two things, you might as well get DSMlink... its a far superior tuning tool and data collection device and its priced pretty decently too, about $550. You wont need an external gate, but porting would be nice. The 16g variants like to boost creep past like 5000ish rpms and some decent porting can help out with that.

Re: Plans for next spring
Thanks THOR, what size injectors would you reccomend for my setup are 550's to small? Also what brand injectors are trustworthy?

Re: Plans for next spring
I'd stick to FIC's and yes, I am pretty sure 550's will be too small. 650's ought to do it, but if you get DSMlink I would get 750's for a little extra headroom (SAFC cant support anything higher than a 650).

Re: Plans for next spring
I could do the pump and rewire kit for sure myself I know, but for the FPR, injectors and tuning device should I have that done where it will be getting tuned or should I attempt to do the injectors and then drive it to the place?

Re: Plans for next spring
Injectors are easy IMO, FPR shouldn't be hard either, and you could get a base tune yourself just so you can drive it and then take it somewhere and have it professionally tuned so you get every penny's worth.
