Window Stuck

2000 328i. I went to put my window up the other day and heard a loud noise then it would not move up. The window then slid all the way into the door. I took the panel off and got the window up. When I hit the switch I can hear the motor going all the way up and down. When I had the door panel off I could feel a steel cable moving up and down inside the door panel. It seems to me that the steel cable is not catching on the window any more. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help. THANKS in advance.

Re: Window Stuck

Well, I trust that it is the regulator. Anyone know how to fix? I read a post somewhere about a fix using welding compound. Or should I just get a new regulator? Can I do it myself or just go to a shop? Should the shop be a body shop? Dealer? A Glass replacement place?
Thanks as always.

Re: Window Stuck

Hope you got it fixed, I had the same problem but a great website showed me how fix it for 25cents. It wasn't the regulator but just two plastic pieces that broke off the wire guide. If you need the website: http://www.skene.org/bmw/window/index.html
