help!! i have a mercury villager the check engine light came on after that it started losing power it wont go over 40 then wont go at all it keeps shuting off. took it to parts store got diagnostic test said to replace knock sensor. could knock sensor cause that problem?

NO NO NO NO
Did I make it clear yet. Search for knock sensor on this forum and read. You have internal problem and the knock sensor is the band aid and thats it. It is an indicator of a problem not the cause in any way. |

had a very similar problem with my 94. knock sensor codes six seven times. Its true, the knock sensor indicates other problems. Mine had the same symtoms as yours. I had changed alot of parts at the time for nothing. After 1 month of sweating, turned out to be the distributer. Not the cap, but the actual distributer. You can get one at any bone yard for around 75 bucks.
