2000 Windstar SEL Door Lock Problem?

The right rear door lock on my windstar will not unlock when I press the unlock button or the remote. It will go up a little but not enough to unlock the door. I even tried to manually pull the knob up with my hand but it will not move. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix my problem?

Had similar problem with driver's side door on 2000 Windstar. Replaced
actuator, bought from Ford Dealer for $68, you may find one less
expensive from an independent parts dealer.

I suggest you look at gary's post on this problem, I fixed mine using his post. Good Luck

On the rear doors check the contacts first.. you will see them on the side of the door some have 3 some have 4 and I think some have more.. clean fist to see what happens..Could also have come loose and stuck on something inside the door. So you may have to pull side panel off..

Thanks everyone for your replies to my question! Yesterday, I stood outside the sliding door and tried moving it back and forth, then tried unlocking it and it worked. I think it was stuck between being locked and unlocked because the door did not lock properly when it moved forward to close. This may be due to the contacts being dirty that Garync talked about. I cleaned them and and lubricated the latching mechanism and so far it is working okay.
