2001 Grand prix gt 3800 motor coolant fan stays on all the time
Hi can anyone help me with this problem my coolant fan stays all the time only shots off when the car is off. Took it to local mechenic he did some testing and told me that i need to replace my computer. Has any one had this issue and knows if there is something that can be done besides replacing computer.

Re: 2001 Grand prix gt coolant fan stays on all the time

The PCM is the brain behind cooling fan operation. It references to the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) to determine when to turn on the fans. However, it controls a few relays which energize to control the operation of both fans. You can check to see if the relays located in the engine compartment fuse box are working correctly. If so, there is a high probability the PCM is the problem so the mechanic may be correct.

HI,
I'm having the same problem as mentioned above. How to you check the relays in the fuse block? thanks

Hi,

Please check the date and do not resurrect old threads. This one is over 2 years old so I'll have to close it. Start a new thread addressing your question or issue and we will be glad to help.
