Oil
so while i have my turbo off, i'm thinking about what kind of oil i should but back in her, well i was running royal purple 5w30 i was thinking of going with a heavier weight because i here its better for turbocharged engines, and was just wondering what you guys run in your cars because i have been running moble 1 5w30 for ever, last oil change was w/ royal purple 5w30, and i here good things about 15w40? and i was thinking about maybe giving amsoil (s/p) a shot? anyone have any comment? used it? like it? dont? why? anything?

I think Mobil 1 10w30 would do you well (or any type of synthetic 10w30), it's a bit heavier than 5w30. I don't know if I'd do the 5w30 to 15w40 jump all of a sudden, I know it's just oil, but some cars do weird things when you change types/weights of oils. And being it's a DSM and all, anything is possible.

I run 10-30 synthetic in mine. Switched from 5-30 synthetic. I've got ridiculous oil pressure... Not sure if its from the oil weight swap or not since I added the gauge afterwards. Maybe the BS elimination is a contributing factor also.

Just changed the oil in the GSX today. Mobil 1 10w30 full synthetic and a mobil 1 oil filter. Thats all I've ever put in it since day 1, and all the last owner said he put in it.

I'm not turbo, but I use to run Pennzoil Full Synthetic 10w30 in my car, but I stopped using it when I discovered a slight oil leak, so I changed it to Pennzoil High Mileage 10w30. It still leaks just a little bit, but not as much as it did when I was running Full Synthetic.

Its not the best idea to switch to synthetic oil on a motor that has a lot of miles on it. You will most likely get oil leaks. Its best to switch around 1500-2k miles on a new motor.

My car has seen Mobile 1 10W-30 for the whole life of the car....=)

I only use Mobil 1 or Castrol GTX synthetic both oils are great.
