9-3 Turbo: Removing the harmonic balancer
How do I do it with out pulling the engine? I have an impact wrench, do I really need that special Saab pully holding wrench?
Do I need a special puller to pull it off, or can I just use a regular harmonic balancer puller? Can I heat it with a torch and get it off that way (with out damaging it)? It has a bad oil seal behind the harmonic balancer, so I have to change it ![]() Took me quite a while to even figure out where that massive oil leak was comming from! If I need to, I was thinking about jacking up one side of the engine so that it would lower the other side just enough for the harmonic balancer to clear the chassis. I can even dismantle the steering knuckle if I have to. I can pretty much do anything except actually pull the engine. Any thoughts? |

Re: 9-3 Turbo: Removing the harmonic balancer
Well that was a LOT easier then I thought!
Remove the serpintine belt Jack the car up Remove the front passenger tire Remove the plastic cover Remove the Giant bolt in the harmonic balancer using a impact wrench And surprisingly... the harmonic balancer come right off with your hands. |
