Angry My 99 GMC is pinging...

My 99 gmc is pining when I give it alot of gas. It also spudders when I first take off. When the truck has warmed up it stops spuddering but the pinging noise is still there. It just started to do this any answers...Thank you.

Engine is likely carboned up.

You can try some on the on the shelf additives at the GM dealer. There are also many products on the market, some good and some not so good. I have a preferred product but got in trouble with a moderator for mentioning it as he only allows his favorite.

The sputtering could be from dirty fuel injectors. Todays fuels don't have enought detergent additives to control engine deposites. The min standard is about 125 ppm detergent and that is not much.

Pinging can also be caused by a poorly or not functioning EGR, this may or may not set a code. To properly diagnose this, a full scan should be done to look at egr function and knock sensor activity.
