2000 316 overheating
hi, i'm new to this,
I have had my water light on my car for a while but cannot see any rad leaks , last week steam came out everywhere major overheating. The AA said it was just my bleed valve... so replaced that .... have pressurised system, checked head gasket, and fan all ok, ..... still overheating after 20 mins ...... have just had the water pump replace at £120, and they said after overheating the head gasket can go later, IS THIS TRUE ... I've now got to test it , can this cause more damage? Have since tested and still overheating, steam coming out behind he oil chamber ?? Last edited by lee.ann.; 11-14-2007 at 10:32 AM. |

Hi,
I know this sounds obvious, but have you checked the engine coolant level? Also, I have heard that their are two types of engine coolant. If the wrong one is used then it can have really bad effects. |

Re: 2000 316 overheating
Had this problem before, it was leaking coolent through the joint of the thermostat, along with that the thermostat had gone faulty which was telling me it was overheating when infact it wasn't. New thermostat fixed it!!
