94 STS Clunk in the back

I'm hearing a loud clunk in the passenger rear when I hit a bump. I thought it was a muffler or pipe hitting under there, but we put it on the rack yesterday and found nothing. All is welded up and solid. Our next logical thought was the strut mount? I've looked online some this morning though and can't find anyplace that says anything about a rear strut mount for a 94 STS. Does this mean the whole strut needs replaced or is there something else to check for. We did find the air ride unplugged when we were under the car, and I left it that way. Not sure if this has any bearing on it or not, I doubt it.

Any suggestions would be great. THANKS ! ! !

Re: 94 STS Clunk in the back

The rear is a air shock, not a strut. The most common source of the noise is the sway bar end links that connect the sway bar to the chassis. It might not hurt to also replace the sway bar bushings if they are worn. Last I checked the end links were around $70 a pair and the bushings were around $10 a pair.
