Brake light fades in..
I just noticed my car doing this the other morning. The brake light wont completely go off. Its really only noticable at night but the light stays barely lite. But the higher I rev the car the brighter it gets. So at idle its barely noticeable but at 5k its pretty bright. Checked brake fluid first and its completely full. Also disconnected my ebrake grounding wire thinking the switch maybe be bad or the turbo timer might be screwing with it since it hooks into that wire as a safety feature. Still does the same thing. Maybe the sensor in the brake resorvoir could be going bad. I did resently change to high performance brake fluid.
This is the fluid I put in. http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?fo...action=product

Re: Brake light fades in..
Looked into it some more and it seems it fades in more the more I get on the throttle... I am totally lost on this one.

Re: Brake light fades in..
High performance brake fluid? Geezus what else are they going to come out with. Switch back to some regular stuff and see if the light goes back out.

Re: Brake light fades in..
Damn that is such a PITA to do. I dont really have alot of time right now so I might be able to get to it. It doesn't cause any problems I was just curious. I might go unplug the sensor on the resorvoir to see if that stops it.

Re: Brake light fades in..
That will most likely make the light stay on constantly, making it think its out of that high-performance brake fluid you speak of.

Re: Brake light fades in..
Check your alternator voltage at idle.

Re: Brake light fades in..
Voltage is around 13.5 at idle. I think its usally around 12.8 once the car is fully warmed up though.

Re: Brake light fades in..
It should stay up at 13.5 all the time when running. It often drops at WOT/high rpm, but that's it. I only ask because weird dash light behavior is the classis sign that the alternator is in the process of crapping out.

Re: Brake light fades in..
Ok, thanks for the heads up. I will keep an eye on the voltage. My turbo timer will display it. So Kevin, you dont think it could be the different brake fluid messing with the sensor?
