Tb Ss

I've been working out of town in Dayton, Ohio for the past couple weeks. Company is picking up the hotel and kicking a per diem my way so its worth it. Best part is its 4-10 hour days = 3 day weekend... Anyway on to the race.

I had just left the hotel yesterday morning heading to work. It's about a 15 minute commute. It was still dark outside. I pulled in to the gas station to top off my tank so when I got off I could just head home. As I was leaving the gas station I see a TB SS pulling out across the street heading my way. Sweet! I thought, but figured it was to early for any of us to want to get a run in. The guy pulled into the far right lane and I was in the left. I was ahead of him by about 5-6 cars and he was behind another car.

The light ahead turns red so I kind of aggresively got into the lane he was in and left the left lane open for him to get in front with me. Which to my surprise he did. Even sweeter. This light took forever and gave me a chance to get a good look at this fine ass SUV sitting next to me waiting to hand me my ass.

The light goes green and we both ease into it and by time we hit 10 mph we were WOT which is where I immediatly got a half car on him. We both hit second at about the same time where I took another 1/4 car total of almost a car length, but then it happened. I looked down at the HUD when I saw him get bumber to bumper with me and I was at 73mph and he proceeded to put about 2-3 car lengths on me when I shut down at 100mph...

That thing hauled ass and looked good doing it. Props to the TB SS. Thats a nice ass ride... Not that it would of made that much dif. but I had all my luggage, all my tools(200lbs),my fan so I can sleep , and a full tank of gas. I think I would have hung in a little longer if I was just driver weight...

Oh, I just got my windows tinted in my new truck and a bedliner, bug guard, and rain gaurds. pics to come.

Re: Tb Ss

Not too shabby. Those things are pretty fast for a SUV. Personally I would take the SRT-8 Jeep over a TB SS any day but they are both nice.

Re: Tb Ss

considering my past history with Jeep I to would want the JGC SRT-8, but you cant tow with the Jeep because the exhaust exits in the center. Bad design if you ask me. It would be nice to see a JGC SRT-8 pulling a big ass boat.. Not so sure about the TBSS towing abilities...

It can tow up to 6500 lbs. Good race (not that I'm biased or anything)! Did you get to talk to the guy after?

Re: Tb Ss

I know these trucks are fast to 60, but watching a highway race between these two would be pretty boring I would imagine. Alot of noise, not alot of speed.

Nah, would have been nice to have though. He got on the highway up the road aways...I figured the towing would be pretty decent. The Jeep cant trailer anything reliably I've heard.

Yeah your right, it was pretty slow and was pretty fun. You got any high speed highway races you could share because I think we all can agree its been rather slow. Just about as slow as my races.

Re: Tb Ss

Nah, I don't street race anymore. I am a truck driver now and can't get any points on my license. Thank you for sharing the race. It is better than anything else on the board. Wonder where Anthony is.....

Re: Tb Ss

TBSS highway race. I think it's fast but I drive a 4800lbs SUV. You be the judge.

Re: Tb Ss

Either that TB was seriously modded or the SRT driver really sucked. Should have been a much closer race. Bet it was turbo lag. He put that gap on pretty quick. Nice Vid.

Re: Tb Ss

I think he has a 3600 stall and bolt ons. Maybe more not really sure. Don't sleep on the TBSS. The LS2 is too easy to mod and has some of the best aftermarket support period. guys are running low 13. with 1000-2000 worth of mods.

Yeah definately. I have seen some deciently modded TB SS's that were pulling low 14's to upper 13's at best. And it would not really be due to turbo lag as it is almost non-existant in SRT-4's unless the are on an aftermarket turbo.

You're still going to get lag if you don't have the engine at the right rpm when you nail it. Just a split microsecond of boost building could put you a half a car down.
