WTB: A single 1G piston (STOCK)

Ok well after inspecting the damage well to my #1 piston it appears the valve did enough to warrent me swapping it out after all.

Im looking for a SINGLE (as in 1) 1st gen piston.

It dosent need to be new and it can have miles on it and stuff just as long as I can do a direct swap out on mine for it. I would prefer it have its rod.

As far as price goes im flexable. I just passed up a lot of 4 stock 2G pistons on Ebay for 30 bucks (1 had a knocking rod) but I dont know if 1g's are harder to come by.

Please let me know and if you need to figure shipping my zip is 43113.

Thanks!

PS- Also is it possable to do the swap out on these through the oil pan area?

Re: WTB: A single 1G piston (STOCK)

Can you recommend me a cheap set that will work. Also I dont know if I should have the block honed or not while im at it and if so I will most likely have to get the oversized pistons correct?

The cheapest new set of pistons and rods I can find local are from Advanced Auto Parts. Here is a link to them:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...e=2187&PTSet=A

As you can see there are 2 options there. Which would be better suited to my needs? Those are standard size mind you, not the .20 over.

If you just have a hone job you will not need oversized pistons. However, it is my belief that if you are ripping apart a motor, you should check it out and do the necessary work... and if its got a few miles and hasnt ever been rebuilt then you should bore it over and throw in some O/S pistons IMO. Toplines will work fine, and they are $200 a set from SBR or Extremepsi.

Re: WTB: A single 1G piston (STOCK)

i have a block sittin in my garage with pistons sitting in it still and i belive you can take them out through the oil pan... not sure if i am allowed to sell them... the motor is from a car that was totaled in the rear.. and it was automatic and was a tsi.l.

Re: WTB: A single 1G piston (STOCK)

If your really want stock 1g pistons, I have two from a 93 tsi manual, 90k on the engine and no knock on the rods. Let me know.

Although, as a suggestion, like thor I would say by a Topline set for $200 to make sure they last.

Re: WTB: A single 1G piston (STOCK)

Well guys shoot me a pm with your prices. I am looking at buying new pistons as thor said but money is tight right now and I really need to be driving the car soon. I am barrowing my brothers truck right now and its got a 6 lt. V8, the things a monster and eats gas left and right

I want to overhaul the car and make it fast but it might be a summer or two before I have the few grand the car deserves.

I think my block is good and at under 100k im not sure if I would pull it or not but if your block is cheap enough that works. ALso Bleed let me know on those pistons. My motor looks like it was rebuild stock once already (New aftermarket HG and rings the guy said)

I have cash in hand and I need to buy them soon if I am going to go this route.

Thanks and please let me know soon guys.
