Fuel pressure needs to be 60 - 65 PSI to start a Vortec.

What is yours at?

Re: 97 5.7L wont start

Try spraying a little carb cleaner in while cranking. If it starts it's a fuel problem. Pull your plugs. If wet your flooded. Try new plugs. Check for spark. Some electric ignitions have problems firing plugs that ar flooded.

Re: 97 5.7L wont start

Pull all the plugs and crank the engine over to clear out the engine. Put in new plugs.

Do you have spark? Pull a plug wire and put it on an old plug and crank the engine.

Re: 97 5.7L wont start

You need 3 things to run. Fuel, spark and compression. Do a compression test.

When replacing the rotor is it put on correctly. is it possible it is on 180 degrees off. or if the distributor was pulled did it get put back correctly.

also did you put wires on and are they in the correct order and position...

on the cylinders but also on the distributor if not............

I have the same problem. I have replaced all my sensors as well. Some people have told me that the computer on the vehicle could get jarred or some electrical connections could have loosened
