Cool WIP: Tamiya Toyota Corolla WRC

Well the time has come to start another, this is my 3rd project and I have decided to take on the Toyota Corolla WRC 1:24 Scale Tamiya model, and i'm gonna take a bit more time with this on and have a go at a bit of weathering too, hehe. You don't learn unless you try it yourself so gonna try it and it looks great fun.

Well here's the box art...

now i have taken the piece's i need for the first section and started to sand the mold lines down on the exhaust and drive shafts, i have also for the first time today used the tamiya 'Light Grey Primer' and it's great stuff then gone over the base with Tamiya spray TS-26, then left that and now coated in Mr Hobby Semi gloss clear coat.

I'll upload some more pic's later as i've got one more coat of paint then i'll take a few more piccy's for everyone.

Chat later

Cool Re: WIP: Tamiya Toyota Corolla WRC

Well as promised here are the pic's first one shows the few pieces i've started on today, and then the light sanding to remove the mold lines. Then my make shift spray booth and the progess throughout the day and the final result which i will leave to dry properly over night and maybe tomorrow as well.

Really really pleased with the results from both the Tamiya primer and the Semi gloss top coat by Mr. Hobby, it really will work well for my Rally car i think

you can see the mold light where i've not yet sanded

my make shift spray booth

primered

TS-26

and finally the result of my days work

and a quick pic to show wot the base originally was like (using the rear diff)

Hello,

I don 't know if it's real or not but it seems to me that you put heavy coats of white...
nevertheless, nice start !

Which livery will you build, the one of the box ?

Re: WIP: Tamiya Toyota Corolla WRC

yeah this will be just a stock box build bar me having a go at weathering. As for the white i gave it 2 light coats and one slighty heavier coat after that, does seem to look thick than it is in real (camera lying again haha )

Excellent work so far.You have a very clean style of painting. The underside looks really good.I built this model myself once but made a real mess of the large green decals that fit around the rear wheel arches and bumper area.Looking forward to seeing this progress, keep the updates coming.

Well, seeing your last pics, I think I got this feeling because of light effects on some of all edges designed on the frame...

I will follow your build, remembering all troubles I had with green decals on mine...
