Electrical Short

Not too long ago my brother bought a used 2001 eclipse gt (3.0L) Gerat condition except for this random electrical problem. Every once and a while when you go to start it, the whole thing will die. If you jiggle the battery cables it will start right up. So I replaced both terminals and the negitive cable, no luck.
Yesterday it acctually started fine and then while driving ALL electrical parts died. Stereo, AC, turn signals. Hit a bump, came back on.
Anyway, I'm lost on this, is there any one relay that would cause this? Altenator?
There isn't any corosion on any of the terminals. Just the neg battery cable was really bad. Replaced that with a 2ga cable.
Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: Electrical Short

It didn't have any corison on the positive, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning. Worse case scenario, I'll be out a few bucks and half an hour.

Re: Electrical Short

make sure the battery itself isn't damaged. one of the top posts could have been hit with something causing them to break loose/short out and when you wiggle them or hit a bump it may cause a complete break in the circuit.

then again, it SHOULD stay running if the car makes it on anyway. Also, make sure the grounds are good and cables aren't touching anything they shouldn't, and that the alternator plug / power line post isnt' loose.
