One of the last pices of info I will need

I was in my room with a trash load of paper, a calculator, and a tape measure and I decided the width and length of the box im going to make but I have a couple questions.

1) I need to find (or know how to find) the depth of the box. I decided to make the length 54" (4ft 6in), and the length 19" (1ft 7in). The left and right speaker edges will be 2" from the edge of the box, and then there is going to be 15" for the speaker, then I left 20" for the AMP to be mounted on the outside of the box in between the subs. So my question is where should I put the speaker dividers in the box or should I split the box right in half for both the speakers, and how deep should it be? And the space needed for each speaker is 1.2~2.0ft cubed.

2) Is it a good idea to mount a AMP on the box or would it mess it up somehow?

3) Would it be O.K. to put that sheet metal stuff that has the diamond shape things punched into it on the box just for a little bling after I coat it with bedliner?

I have some more questions but im just going to start with that for now.

Well first off the bedliner goes on the inside of the enclosure, and diamon plate would not effect much bu the weight. Mounting an amp to the outside of the enclosure will not hurt it, but an amp rack looks so much cooler.

Each speaker should get the same amount of space, and the depth depends on the space needed.

To get that you need width x lenght x height. There are calculators online for it.

1 cu ft = 12 in X 12 in X 12 in = 1728 cu in

1.2 cu ft = 1.2 X 1728 = 2074 cu in
2 cu ft = 3456

for a length of 54" and a width of 19" and a total volume of 2 cu ft ........ it's 3456/(54X19) = 3.37" which is probably to thin for speaker magnets. You also have to add a small volume for each speaker because they take up some. and also figure in dividers (not that much) and ports if you have them.

So how do I figure out how much space I should take off if each sude using the 2 dividers and were they should go?

What exactly are you trying to get. that would help. ALso like paul stated you have to add in the speaker basket and motor structure. Also keep in mind you need the internal dimensions are what gives you the cuft. If your going sealed then somthing like 36x15x12 should get you in the area and leave enough room for the speakers, and the divide.

Its going to be sealed and im trying to find out the demensions of the box on the inside of it for each speaker because if it is going to be 54"x19" then I think im going to have to divide the inside of the box into smaller sections for the subs. But I dont realy know how to do any of this.

I don't even know where to start ...... you just figure space you have and how much volume you need.
