car overheating and no heat from heater
I think that both things are related. The heater fan works but blows cold air and the car started overheating. I let it run and noticed that looking down at the motor from the front the left fan didn't kick on while the right fan came on but didn't cool the engine enough. please let me know if there is anything that I can do to get this resoloved my wife needs the car and I have to leave town with the other one

Re: car overheating and no heat from heater
if the heater is blowing but not blowing hot air then there is most likely some type of flow issue within the coolant system of your car. this can be caused by a stuck closed thermostat or a faulty water pump or belt. if it were my car i would change both the pump and the thermostat together as a unit if i messed with either of them. the fan thing may be due to the fact that low circulation can keep your sensors from actually reading the temp of your coolant. to rule out the fans being the problem compare the temp of the engine with the temp of the radiator with an infrared thermometer or just by feeling it. if its not too terribly hot then you have a flow issue. also check the simple stuff like coolant level and life. check at both the reservoir and the radiator cap. how hot exactly is it getting? does it get hot fast or over a long drive? what year and mileage do you have?
