Glow Guage Backrounds

I just bought some aftermarket blue glow backrounds for the dash and if i plug them into anything but my car, they work, but when i wire them up to my car they wont glow! It has been so frustrating, i have tried splicing them into the stock dimmer switch, didnt work..... i tried running them to a hot switch, didnt work..... i know they are connected correctly and i know they work properly, but it makes no sence..... Any ideas?

Did you turn your lights on with them wired up? I know it sounds like a stupid question but you would be suprise.

If the answer is yes, do your normal guage lights work?

And are you sure you have the power and ground correct? You can't always go by the wiring on the guage to match up to the car. As sometimes the wiring colors mean different things from different cars.

Re: Glow Guage Backrounds

If the gauges work when you hook power to them then they proabably aren't getting power. When you hook them up use a volt meter to make sure they are getting 12v.

Re: Glow Guage Backrounds

Make sure you have a good ground. I have had problems like this before with other things I have wired. Some times just touching the wire to a bolt doesn't work.

Re: Glow Guage Backrounds

Yeah, if you have access to a voltmeter can you shoot the wires real quick and make sure you have power and continuity?

If you need me to elaborate I can.

Re: Glow Guage Backrounds

it was stupid. They snt it with a switch not saying you had to have the switch connected and crap like that. Its really messed up but i had to have the switch connected and have it grounded, which they also didnt tell me.....make a long story short, i figured it out on my own after being creative and with no help from the manufacturer..... they look pretty sweet tho, lol
