Camshaft Position Sensor
i have a 2003 chevy impala 3.4 engine. my check engine light came on and i put it on the machine and it was the camshaft position sensor that came up. And now when i give it gas when i am driving it wont pick up speed no matter how much gas i give it. when i get up to 50 MPH i pick up speed properly when i give it gas.do anyone think the problem is the camshaft position sensor? whats the purpose of the camshaft positon sensor? When the camshaft position sensor goes out how will the car perform? can n e help me

Then it is best to take the DTC error code at face value. In conjunction with the two crank position sensors on a 3400 engine the camshaft position sensor sets the timing for the fuel injection system, therefore your symptoms. Easy to replace DIY once you remove the power steering pump. Also, check the electrical connector to the sensor and make sure it is good or not damaged.
