Question Mazda 787 - Which color red?

I've got a Starter 1:43 787B Le Mans winner that I'm itching to start, but I need a good red for the body. I seem to remember it being pretty flourecent, do TS-36 may do it, but over the years my memory of the car as wained. Can anyone remeber if it was flourecent, and can anyone sugest a good color. What does Tamiya use in their kit?

Re: Mazda 787 - Which color red?

Tamiya Suggests TS-31, Bright Orange for this kit. The car is indeed orange, and bright. From the reference I've seen and the completed models I've seen, I'd say it's pretty close. They likely formulated their "Bright Orange" to match the car, like how "Park Green" matches the colors on the JGTC NSX.

It's a flouro color so unless you've actually seen the car (with your own eyes) during the race, you'll never be able to correctly match the color. Photographs don't do flouro colors correctly and flouro colors are not only notorious for changing hues due to light source variations, but also they fade horribly...so that the color that is on the Mazdas today (767-787) are not the same as when it was originally sprayed on.

Pick a color that either matches the red/orange in the decals (if any!) or simply go with what looks right to you...'cause the modeler is never wrong!

Willmo,
Park Green was created to match the Benetton F-1 colors (B196 IIRC)...LONG before the NSX was a JGTC contender

Well whatever, the model came before the paint, which is the point I was making.
