convertible top motor

I have a 2000 sebring jx. The top will go down but needs help to
come back up. Is this the motor going bad? If so where is it located?
Some have told me in the trunk but at quick glance with all the carpet
around the whole truck I did not see where it could be. Some say in the
back seat panal. If so is it on the drivers or passanger side? Is the
side panal hard to come off?'
Thanks

Re: convertible top motor

The motor to the convertible top is behind the rear seat, or at least that is where it is at in my 97 sebring. You have to take out the back seat and it is just sitting right there. It was one of the easiest things to replace once you get the seat moved!! Good luck hope this helps!!
