Re: 97 gp hub and bearing repair problems

What brand hub did you use? Were the lights there before replacement? Double check the electrical connection hub side and at the wiring harness.

Re: 97 gp hub and bearing repair problems

hello thank you for reply . the hub is a dnynapack(fenco) and the lights were not on when i changed. the reason for the change it was making a humming noise when driving. i had one changed before a few years ago and the abs light came on so i took it too the garage. the trac light has never stayed on like this before. i checked the connection yesterday and seems to be alright.

Re: 97 gp hub and bearing repair problems

You may want to do a little searching on this site. Here is a link where I have been working on mine. I haven't had time to figure out the problem yet. Dealer told me that they would charge $30.00 for a chassis system scan for codes. That would be the fastest and easiest way but I don't have the time to leave a vehicle and pick it back up.

Re: 97 gp hub and bearing repair problems

The fact that the lights weren't on before the hub change and are now would tell me it relates to the hub swap. I've never heard of Dynapack/Fedco, is this some off-brand cheapo or something? We've stated before that it is a VERY bad idea to buy the cheap/white box/Chinese hub available for any ABS sensor equipped hub bearing, as you get what you pay for.

If you did the work yourself (or had it done at a garage), did you/they use impact tools during installation? This is another no-no on ABS sensor equipped hubs, the hammering action of the impact wrench damages the bearing/sensor and creates all sorts of headaches.

Re: 97 gp hub and bearing repair problems

I agree with Rich. I suggested to him via PM to ohm out the wheel sensor by going across the contacts hub side connector with a multimeter. He should get a ballpark figure of around 1K ohms resistance.

Thanks. I'll try to look at it this afternoon. It's going out of town again this evening and won't be back for a few weeks.

Re: 97 gp hub and bearing repair problems

I replaced my frony 2 hubs with the cheap ones from CPW and never any problems. It fixed the mudder sound and everything is good.

-As for your lights check the hub electrical connector and make sure the rubber seal is in there did not fall out. if it is missing the connector it will not have a good contact and all those lights will come on. It happened to me luckily I keep alot of old small parts like those so I had no problem after replacing it.
