Unhappy Carb problems on my 84 civic

I had my car up at the shop because it will not stay idling. It runs great but always have to have your foot on the gas when you stop. The shop told me my carb needed rebuilt because it is bleeding out over night? Does this make sense? If so is buying a new carb cheaper. I was told 500 to rebuild the one in my civic. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Carb problems on my 84 civic

well auto zone lists for 650 i would try cleaning out carb before you go out and buy one. check fuel filter see if its clogged if not then that problem sounde more like a vacuum leak or sensor
