2001 ford crown victoria temp. sensor locations?

hi....im new here ... im working on a 2001 ford crown victoria 4.6 police package car , i bought new temp senders (book calls for 2 ) but can only find 1 on the top passanger side , im told 1 controls the gauge and 1 controls the computer ? .... the space behind the thermostat where the ford garage said the other one should be is a solid steel circle ( no hole was drilled there .... is it possible the motor is from a later year ? if so how can i tell?...... and am i looking in the right places for the senders?... i assume they would both be on top of the intake manifold? 1 on the right and 1 on the left ? or am i wrong ?....any help here would be great .... thanks guys .

Look under the intake on the drivers side. There is a temperature sensor located in the head about in the middle of number 5 and 6 cylinders. It is the Cylinder Heat Temperature Sensor.
