i'm trying to run a rocker switch for my lock-up torque converter for a 92 grand am 2.3 SOC...i can't tell which of the four wires powers the valve to signal for the hydraulics to lock up... my car is doing what every other grand am does... it locks and won't unlock when it's hot... i want to run a rocker switch so i can use it on long drives but turn it off when in the city preventing the amount of time it has to lock up and stick... if anyone can tell me which wires do what, mainly which of the four wires provide the main power to the valve, that would be so awesome...

Re: TCC rocker interrupt switch...which wire is power?
Welcome to AF. When it sticks cutting the power will not work, it sticks, you must disconnect it permanantly or fix it.

Re: TCC rocker interrupt switch...which wire is power?
thank you max for reply: "When it sticks cutting the power will not work, it sticks, you must disconnect it permanantly or fix it." the only thing here is if what you say is true then disconnecting it would be useless too, but it's not, when it locks up i unplug it and it unlocks. so if it sticks regardless then even unplugging it would leave it stuck according to what you say, but it's not. if i can interrupt the power then it will serve the same as "disconnected" so long as the switch is off... this is what i'm trying to achieve, but i have no way of knowing which wire powers the valve.

Re: TCC rocker interrupt switch...which wire is power?
You could just unplug it permenantly and that'll fix it.
Or just fix it as Max stated. Here is the procedure for replacing the TCC.... How To Replace Your Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid

Re: TCC rocker interrupt switch...which wire is power?
What you are attempting to do will NOT work anyway
![]() Second all you need is a manual with a wire diagram, which I personly dont have one available for that year. OK the ZONE sucks ! they dont even list a 92 grand ams ![]() IMO with the time wasted you could have replaced the TCC. Its like $15-20 and a days work. Does that link about show the wires and plug in ? They might have what you need.... Good Hunting !

Re: TCC rocker interrupt switch...which wire is power?
Well your idea with the switch was a good one.
But the problem is with the TCC not working right. Sso even with a switch to engauge/disengauge , it wont work since the TCC isnt workin right to begin with. Glad to help !
