Does anyone know how to disable the fuel cutoff.. it only kicks when you pegg the speedo.. well I have different gear ratio's in my 90' lumi 2dr cp 3.1ltr. I hit the fuel cut at 120mph and on the tach I'm only at 2700rpm and I can safely get it up to 5grand... but not at top speed.. I know the tranny is good for 180mph.. any one have any idea's ...... please

Re: electronic fuel cutoff
The trans is good for 180!!, come on! At 2700 rpms the car is going about 85 in o/d so your info is wrong somewhere. These pcms are not programmable to change the speed limiter, there may be some companys that sell a modified complete pcm.

Re: electronic fuel cutoff
I've heard that you can grind off every other tooth on the wheel speed sensor ring... computer will think you're going 60 when you're going 120. The guy that told me that is... well...
I wouldn't try it on my car, but it's a thought

Re: electronic fuel cutoff
The wheel speed sensor ring has nothing to do with the speed limiter. The VSS that is in the transmission is what the ECM uses for the speed limiter. The axle reluctors are for the ABS system only and work independently of the ECM. If you knocked every other tooth off the reluctor for the wheel speed sensor, your ABS would either never quit pumping the brakes, or shut off completely. The only way to circumvent the E-prom speed limiter is to buy an aftermarket reprogrammed e-prom (as the older OBD-I computers are not re-flashable), and good luck finding one for a 90 Lumina these days.

ok first.. I know that some of the info that I put on there was bogus. But the last few times i posted about the speedo/fuel cutoff nobody replied.. But If there is a way to change the fuel cutoff point or eliminate it altogeather, I'd like too. I do however have an aftermarket tranny in it though which is good for 180. the man that I had rework it told me that it is good for it plus some. As for the grinding off of the teeth on the sensor.... thats just a bad Idea... this lumina is NOT stock.. but there are some things that I'd like some input on.. |
