'95 Olds 88 transmission problems
Hi, I'm writing this for my elderly parents to get some information so they won't get taking adavantage of at the dealer's repair shop.
The car is a '95 Olds 88 3800 engine. It has 105,000 miles on it. 3 years ago at 72,000 miles the motor spun 3 main bearings to the tune of $4500 for a new long block Now today the tranny went out (no reverse and no 2nd gear). They have taken it the the local chevy dealer. No one can look at it until Monday. My question is what will the dealer do? Rebuild the old one or install a new one. And what should they expect to pay on both a rebuilt tranny and a new one. THANKS |

Re: '95 Olds 88 transmission problems
Wait till they come up with some estimates and post back the results, there are too many variables with labor rates and repair techniques.
