95 Lumina 3100 Winding Noise Aud/Vid posted Please Help!!!
Ok if you go to this file and save it it is a small video clip of my motor running, i got a winding noise i cant figure out what it is, it soounds like it is coming from the right side of the car. I am nervous that something big and bad is about to happen so if you could download this file and give it a look and listen i would appreciate it as i want to track this problem down.
http://www.zshare.net/video/2881279c6d0192/ Thank you very much for your help and advice. ADDED: I forgot to mention this, i changed the serpentine belt, oil, plugs and wires, checked the pulleys and everything felt tight before i put the new belt on. Now this noise was there before the tuneup i just thought i would mention that i checked the pulleys. |

Sounds like power steering pump noise.
If the fluid is full, it may have a restriction in the return side or something...

Re: 95 Lumina 3100 Winding Noise Aud/Vid posted Please Help!!!
I had the same noise with my 97 Lumina, paid $245.00 to have the power steering hoses replaced. The noise was still there, my mechanic said there may be a little air in the system it will work itself out. After few days I replaced the power steering pump myself. I noticed that the only thing that was damaged and causing noise, was the seal that is on the power steering reservoir. I don't have any leaks or noises since then. You can get the seal set from a part store for about $8 or the whole power steering pump for $40. I suspect when you replaced the belt, somehow the reservoir was disturbed and now it's pulling air and making noise.
Good luck.............................................. .... |
