Hello, Long time no see.

Don't know how many OG's are going to even remember me (I know a lot of newer people aren't going to know who I am), but I figured I'd make a little thread about what I've been up to.

Working full time for Lexus now... gotta tell ya... being a technician... is no long what I want to do with my life. Don't get me wrong, I'm good at what I'm doing, and it pays great... but (for any of you wanting to be techs/mechanics, pay attention) 95% of it is all service work, like oil changes, tire rotation and balancing... crap that any grease monkey can do. All the way through school I was thinking I was going to be doing fun stuff like eletrical diagnosis, or engine performance stuff... but it turns out companies like Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura already have other guys to do that stuff for them, and in a dealership situation you hardly get to do any diagnosing of any kind.
But, like I said... it does pay very well... and as soon as I get a house, I'm going to start buying larger equipment and more expensive tools so I can start doing custom work out of the house (in particular, engine performance and custom eletrical work)... and maybe eventually open my own shop.

My car hasn't really changed too much... and I constantly think about buying another CRX, but haven't managed to talk myself into it yet, simply because getting a house is my priority right now...
I have managed to get together all the parts for an engine swap into my car(mounts, wiring, brackets of all shapes and sizes), except for the motor and trasmission..... is hard to part with that $4,500 for a B18C5 at this time.
But here's how she's looking.

Before!

After!

I really screwed up... took the wings off and sold them, and now decided I really miss them... ah well... motor's the next mod for me... someday

Thanks... I don't suppose it would be such bad work if I didn't already have such high expectations for myself and what I really wanted to do.
I would have thought with as much time and money as I spent getting my degree that I'd at least end up doing something I like (and not quite so monotonous).

Re: Hello, Long time no see.

Whats up Killa. I'm back just poking around on the forum too. I've also moved on to being a tech. Working for dealerships sucks. I now work for an independent bmw race shop, i'm a machinist/fabricator and I love it!! You might not start off doing what you love but you can always take advantage of your opportunities and move up when youre ready. Glad to see you dropping back in though, best of luck!!
