Question Brake Issues????

I have a 97 Gp w/154,000 on it and I have it about 7 months. I driving home yesterday and my brake pedal got real stiff and hard to push down. I easily made it the rest of the way home. The brakes are working fine but there was kind of a funny smell coming from the outside of the car. (maybe drivers forn side????) It almost smelled electrical. (again still not positively sure??)

Does anyone have any ideas?
My hubby says it was fine when he drove it but (he does not drive it every day like I do). Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
tonya

Re: Brake Issues????

It sounds like the brake booster either failed, or the vacuum line running to it came off or split. The smell may be from the hose coming off and falling on something hot (exhaust mainfold, crossover pipe, etc...).

When I got into the car this morning the brake pedal was working ok but I am going to check it out Saturday morning. It is too hot to do it right now. Thank you soooooo much for answering my question. Have a great day!!!
