Unhappy 1993 302 efi wont start, floods

I have an 1993 ford 302 efi stuck in a boat but you seen to know alot about these engines...

Ive run the engine a few times but last time the engine died when i just started it and put in reverse, and now it wont start.

This have been done and checked:
#New sparkpluggs(yesterday)
#New rotor and cap
# Starter cranks
#fuel pumps are running
# Engine starts if I disconect the fuelpumps, but dies when it runs out of fuel or the pumps are connected. runs badly for a few seconds
# I have preasure on the fuel rail
# Mapsensor hose is not cloged, or any other hose from plenum
# sparkpluggs are getting wet
#Lifted one rockercover and everything seems to be in place
# have checked comp on three cyl(Then it started couse we disconnected the fuelpumps, even thou three sparkpluggs were out)
# ignition coil is Ohm mesured and checked out al right
# used an OBD1 foult code reader but it gave nothing
# pluggs give spark but i dont know if enough or with right timing
# Spark plugg wires is messured and seems alright
# and yes there is fuel in the tank(full)

Im running out of ideas, can this be something with the ignition?
Please some help...
And apologies if you dont understand my English, but Im Swedish

Sounds like its out of time. Could also be the TFI (ignition module), its mounted on the side of the distributor.

Re: 1993 302 efi wont start, floods

Well after re-reading the things you have done to narrow your search it sounds like you may have a faulty fuel pressure regulator. If I understand what your saying then if you turn the key on the fuel pump primes the system, but the car wont start unless you unplug the fuel pump correct? Sounds to me like your fuel pressure regulator is bad and you are flooding the motor. If too much fuel is pumped into the chamber and there is not enough air to atomize it or not enough spark to ignite it then it could possibly hydrolock the motor. That could damage parts big time so I say swap out the fpr and try it again.

I´ve swaped the fuel pressure regulator a week ago... and checked that the injectors are pulsing today...

Re: 1993 302 efi wont start, floods

Check the timing again. Make sure #1 is at TDC and install the dizzy with the rotor button pointing at the #1 pin in the distributor cap. If you get fuel, fire, air, and compression all in the right order you should fire right up. I know you said you are getting fuel pressure, but how much? Might be worth swapping coils just to rule that out even though it tested good.

Re: 1993 302 efi wont start, floods

ok, so, youre getting fuel, air, and spark what we have to figure out is if you are getting them at the right time and at the right ammount. i would say i agree with the fpr as posted by 351wStang. So thats 2 votes. after sitting for a while when you pull the vac line off the fuel pressure regulator if any gas comes out it needs to be replaced. This method doesnt diognose the problem all the time. Its quick and easy just to swap it out.

Yes, check your oil to see if it smells like fuel. If so then you have piston problems.
