Overheating Villager'97

I have a villager '97 with 252,000 Km (156.000 miles) ; other than routine maintenance, all original engine parts except altenator (in 2005) and water pump + thermostat replaced in january.

In February this year, the car would overheat (no coolant loss), and I got no hot-air in car. Mechanic said failed head gasket, so I decided not to have repared >$ 2 k. I decided to drive until it breaks then scrap. I only took it short distance (5 min) to work and car would slightly overheat, but never critical as I would drive it for only 3 miles to work/ home. As spring approached, I noticed on cold days (below freezing) car overheats, but on warm days (Temp above freezing) I got no overheating and hot air in car. Now in the summer, I can drive for hours and no overheating. The fan works fine, any ideas on the problem ?

Re: Overheating Villager'97

Welcome.

I would like to suggest that prior to posting you read a little of the old post to see if your problem had been mentioned. In this case I think you have air in the system and it is cause back pressure to build in turn raising the temperature.
