Re: SAFC tuning??

you can't just do that. You can't say Oh I will just subtract X percent because I am venting it doesn't work like that. You will be running way to lean when you're not venting. Do you understand that the safc subtracts air based on rpm levels? It isn't able to just subtract air when your imbetween shifts or something.

Re: SAFC tuning??

Sorry but i'm a newbie at this.
Will a maft be hard to install?
Do you still need to tune it if you have the maft?

Re: SAFC tuning??

No the maft is not hard to install it goes near the uicp where the throttle body is. Therefore it reads the air AFTER the blow off valve allowing you to do whatever you want with the air before it. YES you do have to tune it and many people agree it is quite difficult to tune. It is also somewhat expensive for very little gains and unless you're a serious racer (stock gm mas can only flow about 400hp) then aside from the venting of the BOV valve its kinda useless and without proper tuning would lead your car to run worse.

If its just the sound of the bov that you want to be louder just get a metal intake pipe for most people that noise is plenty loud.

Re: SAFC tuning??

There is a common misconception that the AFC can allow you to vent the BOV to atmosphere. This stems from the fact that the AFC does have such a feature. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work on DSMs. I can understand the interest in it. Some people just want the noise, but there are some badass BOVs that simply won't return to the intake, like the Tial.
