A/C fine in town, No engagement on highway?

We've ran into this problem a couple times. It seems our A/C works fine at slower speeds (so far); but a couple times when we've been at highway speeds (55-65mph around here), the system will not engage. The first time it did this, when I slowed down in-town it would start cooling again.

Pressures are good and the clutch seems to engage/dis-engage without a problem. It still seems to cool pretty well too. Anyone else run into this or have any thoughts?

TIA

Compressor not engaging? Do you know this or are you guessing? I'm wondering if the clutch is slipping at high RPMs. Are you getting NO cool air, or just not enough?

Well, it's a just a guess for the most part. It's not cooling at all when it happens - I took it out today while it was 94-95F out and it engaged and cooled just fine. Puzzling.
