Does anyone know what type of ac oil would be used in a 2000 Taurus? They have several different types at the auto parts but the people at the counter are clueless about which type to use.

Re: AC oil question
Several different types, or PAG and Ester oil? Any car sold in the US after 1994 will use R-134a refridgerant. PAG oil is for use with R-134a, Ester for the old R-12. I'm not aware of any other types of refridgeration oil for use with automotive A/C systems.

Re: AC oil question
They have different types of pag oil, like pag 100, pag 150 etc. I was thinking of calling the dealer but they will probably tell me I need to buy it from them at an inflated price.

Re: AC oil question
Interesting. I don't have the service manual for the 2000 model year Taurus, so I can't offer help there. For 2002 model year, the factory service manual calls for
Refrigerant Lubricant PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) WSH-M1C231-B in case that's of any help. -Rod |
