Anyone has any resin Dodge Vipers?

Studio 27 and Modelers both produced 1/24 Dodge Vipers. What I'd like to know is, is there any reason to get these over the Revell 1/25 Vipers, apart from the racing decals? The price difference is incredible.

Those resin kits are of the modified racing Viper's. Much easier to buy them than than do all the work converting the Revell/AMT kits.

Would it not be better to buy the Revell kit @ low $ and then buy a set of aftermarket racing decals? Resin can be a pain in the ass to work with. Just my opinon minus 2 cents.

There is much more to the the racing bodies than decals. The Modelers and Studio 27 kits are excellent and easy to build.

Another solution in to buy the revell kit , the Scale Production racing resin Body and of course racing decal.
I think this solution is less expensive than modeler's or s27 kits, and result is good as i can see.

Don't forget the Revell is 1/25th while the decals and transkit 1/24th.
I guess you maybe can sand the body kits but the decals would look a bit "off".

I have the Modeler's version of the Oreca Dodge Viper and the Revell GTS. The resin versions have detailed photoetched parts with a vacuum formed canopy, but no engine. you can take the engine form the Revell kits and modify quite a bit to look like the racing version.

I think Mr. Hiroaki Fukuda's site has a sample of one being done that way.

Sorry, I haven't completed yet.
Modeler's and S27 (same kit, by the way) is just slightly smaller to be 1/24, because the shrinkage of a resin copy wasn't taken into account when the original part was designed. This makes the installation of 1/25 a little easier. But, the racing viper has a full dry-sump lubrication system, so the engine sits much lower and farther back then the street car. After all, it's going to be a semi scratchbuild project, so it'd take a lot of time and effort to build a fully detailed racing Viper. The Modeler's kit is out of production, but S27's kit in general is not so hard to build.

BTW, does the 1996/1997(?) Oreca Viper (white with blue stripes) have any historical significance?

Don't forget the Scale Design's Canaska Viper (which was a GT1 LM car). It's 1:24th and a typical build.

I've got the Cansaka Viper.. nice! But the rollcage is molded into the roof.
