98' Front Wheel bearing job
Hey guys,
Just getting ready to put new wheel bearings in on the front on my 98' 4 door 4wd Blazer and was just curious if there is anythng outstanding about this job that I need to know about from those of you who have done it before. Also, my truck is getting ready to roll over to 80K miles and im curious, is there anything else I need to replace or check at this point? Not really hd any problems with it, other than the 4wd quit working last year and I have not got it fixed yet. Also put a new intake gasket on it. Thanks for your time, Justin |

Also, what about Tranny fluid and filter change? is it about time for it?

Re: 98' Front Wheel bearing job
I'd recommend getting a hub puller before you start, makes getting the spline out easier; put some anti-seize on it when you reassemble to make it easier next time. Also break the 36mm axle nut free with a breaker bar before you lift the wheel, and have a torque wrench capable of 180 ft-lbs for reassembly.

Re: 98' Front Wheel bearing job
Im looking around on autozone, etc for front wheel bearing parts but all I can find is the hub assy. for around $150.00, do I have to buy two new front hubs, or can new bearings be put in the existing hubs, like the rear axle?

150$ sounds like the cheap 90 day bearings. If you are going to keep it for a while get the good ones. But they may bee up over 200$ each. Good luck MT

Re: 98' Front Wheel bearing job
YES, you have to buy two new front hubs if you are changing both front wheel bearings....
