Re: How Many miles can the 4.6cyl enginee Get before needing to be replaced?

You can get 200,000 to 300,000 miles out of a basically solid engine if you take care of it. I have an '86 MGM that I put a rebuilt engine in 123,000 miles ago and it is still running beautifully. I change the oil every 3000 miles and fix things as soon as they go wrong, whatever they are. for the past year or two, I have had no repairs other than a/c or other minor stuff, like lights going out, etc. As to oil changes, find somebody you can trust. When they pay low-wage, irresponsible help to do your oil change, they can forget things like putting the plug back in your rear end after they check it. I lost a rear end ($1200 and lots of aggravation) as a result of that a few years ago. I use my regular mechanic to do oil changes now. A side benefit is they can check for anything else that's wrong when they do my oil change, and I have an established relationship with them, so I know they're not scamming me.
