problem with Rosetta (1991 Accord)

I had to replace the hose that goes from the engine to the heater core valve on the right side of my 91 accord in the process i broke what appears to be a sensor of some sort that is right next to the spot were the hose goes on the engine. there is two of them there i broke the one closest to the hose. there has been no notice able effect but id like to know what it dose and if i should bother replacing it.
