being blamed need help

ok, my mother-in-law has a 97 2.2 and she was complaining of the radio cutting out(this could be long). she bought this used from a teen. i took out her radio and it was spliced all to hell. i rewired and fixed her problem(it is a stock stereo). well she was happy with it and i thought that was the end, i was wrong. she takes a quick 13 mile ride shopping and on her way back the car just dies. she calls and said its dead. i went to pick her up, and it cranks fine, getting fuel to the fuel rail and spark is good at all plugs. i told her to give me a few days and ill check out the tps, the cps, and the pcm with voltimeter. oh yeah all fuses are good. well i get a call from her today saying her sister has a monte carlo and says there is a reset button of some sort in or behind the radio. i said ill check into it, well she said she remembers messing with the radio when it died. so shes blaming me for the trouble and never a thanks for fixing the radio.
so what do you think?

Re: being blamed need help

okay, got everything straight with the motherin law. everything seems to check out. on my first attempt to start the car there was a load pop from the exhaust. so im thinking it might have jumped time or something with the timming components. there is not any check engine lights at all comming on. good fuel pressure, good spark, and all fuses are good. tested the tps(5 volts), cps, and all connections. all checks out. what do you think?

Easy change? One hour? Did you SawZall the RH strut tower out of the way to make room? That's a pretty quick TC swap. I've done a '98 Sunfire with the 2.2 and it was nowhere near an hour.

Re: being blamed need help

no i didnt saw anything. turned the r/f wheel all the way to the right and removed all the plastic covers and there it was alot of room. the hardest part was taking the cover off without loosening the oil pan. took the taps out of the bottom of the cover and replaced them with bolts. i didnt think it was bad time, wasnt in a hurry and using caveman tools, on a gravel driveway. but all is good now. she wants me to do some other repairs on it nd i told her hell no. im not going to take a chance on somethingelse going wrong and get the blame.
