'04 Venture SES Lt and P0301 Code

Hey Guys,

I need some help, '04 Venture w/SES Lt on and runs rough. Pulled no. 1 spark plug and cranked engine - Nice bright blue spark, that rules out the ignition system. I want to check the resistance across the injector before I pull the top of the intake manifold off but the Haynes manual only give wire colors for the injector into the PCM, No. 1 is black. You know how many black wires go into the PCM, I counted at least 9! So then I looked for a cavity in the PCM that had all of the injector color wires, it's impossible!
So my next best bet is to throw it open to you guys, you've never let me down before. If anyone can tell me what pin numbers on the PCM the injectors go to I would appreciate it.

Also if anyone has any insight into code P0301 I would also appreciate it, at this point I am down to Injector plugged or electrical failure, wire to injector open or shorted, or failed PCM.

IMG gasket replaced about 6 months ago, no coolant loss and no oil loss. If I wind up having to take off the top intake I am going to re-torque the lower intake just to be on the safe side.

Any help? You guys are the greatest. TIA.

Re: '04 Venture SES Lt and P0301 Code

If the fuel injector harness has been off, there is now a misfire at steady state speed and RPM and normal diagnostics have failed to identify the cause, suspect crossed fuel injector connectors. Remove the manifold and check the color code of each circuit to verify its routed to the correct injector.

Important: The rear cylinder head is the odd bank (1-3-5), and the front head the even (2-4-6). The numbers cast into the intake make it look the opposite because the runners cross to the other side.

Re: '04 Venture SES Lt and P0301 Code

Hey KornJulio, Thanks for the reply, This is a new issue. The Van has been running like a champ ever since I changed the IMG. In addition the injector harness was never off of the rail, actually the the injector harness was never off of the injectors I pulled the whole rail as an assembly when I changed the IMG. I want the color codes so I can measure the resistance of all of the injectors and compare them to the resistance for injector no. 1 which is what I think is the problem.

Again if anyone can help me I will appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: '04 Venture SES Lt and P0301 Code

Hey KornJulio,

Thanks again for the reply.

I measured the resistance of the injectors and they all were around 12 ohms. At this point I figured the only thing that could be wrong was a clogged injector so to verify it I swapped injector #1 with injector #6, I assumed that if it was a bad injector I would get a code P0306 (or whatever code a miss in cylinder 6 would generate).

After I swapped them I started the engine and the miss was gone. The only thing that I can figure out is there was a bad connection some where (either the injector, the 16 pin harness connector or the PCM connector) or there was something plugging up the injector that I shook loose trying to change the injectors around.

Hopefully it won't come back but if it does I'll act depending on whether it is a miss on cylinder 1 or 6.

I'll post again if I find out anything else.

Thanks again,

Sparky

Re: '04 Venture SES Lt and P0301 Code

Hello, I'm getting a P0301 code as well on my 97 Venture. It happens when I first start the vehicle (hot or cold ). It runs like crap of course and the "Service Engine Soon Light" is flashing, but after 30 seconds or so it the engine clears up and it stops flashing. The light stays on but not flashing anymore. I just changed plugs and wires and it didnt stop it. Also I changed head gaskets and intake gaskets, etc. about 3 years ago. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
