lower ball joints

When doing the brakes yesterday I found the passenger side lower ball joint boot was ripped. Looks to be about $50-60 to replace from online suppliers. Should I go OEM from St. Charles or is there a good aftermarket option?

Re: lower ball joints

I got the Sankai/555 'japan' brand ones from drivewire.com they have grease zerks I know alot of ppl praise Moog for their parts and Moog uses 555 to make alot of them.

I have to replace my lower ones again eventually (the hardest ones of course) because the shop that did my LCA bushings ripped the boots pretty bad.

Re: lower ball joints

Thanks. Moog was the only brand I recognized. This looks super easy on my 4X2. 5 bolts total.

Re: lower ball joints

Hopefully yours come apart easier then my lowers did. I broke 2 pullers and smacked the hell out of it. Finally had to get my turbo torch from work, heat the hell out of the knuckle then beat on it with a pickle fork.

Re: lower ball joints

Right. Getting it out of the steering knuckle is a different story. I'm hoping for one well placed smack with a BFH.
