'92 Ranger will not start.

I was on my way to work when my truck just stopped running. I tried to start it, but it doesn't seem to be getting any spark. After reading some of the threads on here I checked the coil and it rang out good, but doesn't spark. I did finally find the ECC Fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse , but it blew again while trying to start the truck. Any help on where to go from here would be great.

Re: '92 Ranger will not start.

Disconnect the ECC and replace the fuse and try starting. If the fuse blows again, then you have a problem with ECC or any of its inputs or outputs. But it looks like it is the ECC that is the problem. By the way does this problem occur also during first start in the morning?

Re: '92 Ranger will not start.

disconnect the coil from the distributor or coilpack then put a fuse in and try it.

if it still blows look at the trace the wires from the coil back and look for burned wire bare wire.

if it doesnt blow trace the wires to the coilpack / distributor and check for shorts.

Im pretty sure a bad coilpack or bad coil can blow a fuse too!

Re: '92 Ranger will not start.

Thanks to you guys. I traced the wiring harness to the rear of the engine block and found were the wiring got hot and went to ground. I taped up the wires and now the truck runs as good as new.
