Friend looking at buying a 93 trans am, any common problems i should know about?
Friend went with me to the gm nationals today. in the car corrall we spoted a 93 trans am for sale. He has been looking for one for awhile. Don't know all the details but the car is black w/ tan leather interior (all power acc.), hardtop, automatic, and it has 124,000 miles. started it up/reved it and sounded strong, no knocks, ticks, etc. drivetrain is bone stock. new parts that i know it has are brake rotors/pads all around and rebuilt front calipers. only mechanical issue is the seller suggested replacing the radiator in the near future but says it doesn't overheat or anything, just that the original is still in the car. has three cosmetic issues; nose/bumper cover is cracked and scratched on the lower drivers side from loading it on the trailer and the drivers door has an area about 2in long on front and back edge that the paint is chipped away/bubbling. rest of the car has minor scratches (black shows everything). the face of the left rear rim has a 2in crack in it. basically at the least it would need a new nose, the door fixed, a new rim (possibly), and the paint buffed. underside looks clean from what i could see except for the muffler which had some minor surface rust. seller was asking between 4,000-5,000 but said we could have it for 3,500 as the wife wants it gone. he may be back at the show tomorrow but if he doesn't sell it we would have to go to alexandria, va to look at it.
main question is are there any specific problems related to early 4th gens/LT1's that i should look for if i need to go with him to look it over again and test drive it? Opti was my first thought being a 93 and owner didn't know if it had been replaced. Being that the original owner replace anything that went wrong, it may have been. thanks in advance guys, heres a couple pics i was able to snap of it: ![]() the front end damage ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Weak 10-bolt rears and window motors are common problems I've found during my research.

Not a huge fan of the 93 f-bodies due to the smaller injectors, use of MAP, and the 4L60 tranny.
