What are your pet peeves?

What are they?

Personally, I have alot of them, but I'm not going to list them all...

I hate it when I'm watching a movie, and someone will not shut up. Especially if they keep talking about particular actors/actresses and what other movies they've been in, etc. I don't mind talking about that stuff, just not when I'm trying to watch a movie.

I hate going to a bar, and starting a tab. Then one of my friends says "hey, can I be on your tab? We'll get some pitchers, and I'll give you some money" and at the end of the night they hand me like 2 bucks... I don't mind buying beer for people or whatever, but if they say they're gonna pitch in, they should give me more than 2 bucks...

I hate it when people use apostrophes incorrectly (apparenly for decoration, sometimes) and when people get their homonyms (words sounding the same but with different spellings and different meanings) confused.

I hate it when elderly folks I know complain about being poor, and then I find out they're actually getting more Soc. Sec. benefits for themselves alone than my family of 8 makes in income.

I hate tailgaters, vandals, and especially those SUV's with their brights on who are tailgating.

As for the person watching a movie who won't shut up...when I went to see Signs (and took my b/f and 2 brothers for a cost of $24), there was a 15-16 yr old kid in front of me who kept going "Huahhh!!" really really loud throughout the movie. After he did it about 10 times, my boyfriend said "Maybe he has Tourette's," really loudly, but we got no reaction from the people in front of us. Then he said "Huahhh!!" again. He was ruining my movie that I spent a whole bunch of money on, so I kicked the back of his seat as hard as I could (swimmer's legs ). It knocked him probably a foot forward, and he didn't turn around to see who did it, but he did shut up for the duration of the movie. My boyfriend was so proud, he told everyone at his work the next day.

I hate it when people ask me what my pet peeves are.....LOL.....just kidding

I hate it when people throw around the term "Rice" when it is unwarranted.

I don't mind someone pulling out in front of me, but I hate it when they don't get up and go once they get on the road.

This is more of a peeve than a hate....I get cheesed off by the children of the well-off making judgements on the less fortunate, based on what they've heard from their parents' friends.

Don't kick the poor unless you've had to live the lifestyle.EVERONE is entitled to a little bit of happiness.

I'd be more peeved about the parents who starve their children while drinking/smoking the money away...

I have lived well below the poverty line, too. My family used to survive on $15,000 a year for a family of 7, and a mortgage of $1000 monthly. Fortunately we are in better times now.

But........I know of some kids whose parents are benificiaries, who spend most of thier dole on booze, ciggies and Sky Digital- the kids are in a shocking state- they usually are reduced to stealing thier from parents to go and get fish and chips because thier parents won't feed them.....And this is what I am getting at, however if a poor-family feeds thier children well, pays the neccesary bills and can scrape up a little cash for luxuries- then where is teh problem with that?? There is none.

Some more peeves

The Maori people having thier own Rugby team and Beauty pageants- They would find it racist if I started a Caucasian NZ Rugby team- Well thats how I view the above mentioned segregated events

People who ramble on about God- without backing up what they are saying

When the government makes another dumb decision that isolates us from any form of an ally

People who can't take a hint

People who want me to photo-copy my study notes for them

Whoa! I see. This explains a lot about you (awesome perspective on things, insightful comments, tough skin, sympathy and empathy). I had no idea. I think it has made you a stronger person. My Mum did the same thing - 8 person family on $30k Australian per year ( about $19k US in those days). You have my unquestioning respect, Boingo.

Likewise. My parents deserve it more than anything though, we were only in such dire straits for about 5 years, but they didn't go into plastic debt or anything. They have always bought their cars for cash (new cars), only financing houses. I suppose it's yard sales that got us through it. I only had new clothing/toys for birthdays or xmas, and only from relatives, until I started buying them myself. I merely aspire to have the self-control and discipline that my parents survived on. For what it's worth, we never went on the public dole, either.

Doing it tough usually brings out either the best or worse in people. You can revel in it and continue the cycle or use it as an important life lesson and rise above it. Good on you for going, what seems to be in this world, the road less travelled.

The few who fail their kids are no worse than negligent parents in general, but the consequenses can be more severe. There are plenty of well-heeled parents who have no interest or control over their children, but at least there is usually food in the house....and yet whenever somebody wants to express an ill-informed opinion of the lifestyle of the less fortunate,it's the same old story...poor people are bad parents. The ignorant prejudices of those who have never struggled can be quite offensive at times.

can somebody steer this thread back on -topic please?
